This position is Part-Time, non-benefited, during major events.
Pay starting at $16.00hr, commensurate with experience.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Event Staff member for our Lexington, VA location at the Virginia Horse Center.
This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our store during events held at the Virginia Horse Center. The ideal candidate should be passionate about equestrian sports, possess excellent customer service skills, and be capable of working independently.
Responsibilities:
- Store Operations:
- Set up and arrange the store's display of equestrian tack, apparel, and accessories before the event begins.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store throughout the event.
- Restock merchandise as needed to ensure products are readily available to customers.
- Operate the cash register and manage transactions accurately.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions with precision and accuracy.
- Balance the cash register at the end of each shift and report any discrepancies to the store manager.
-Customer Service:
- Greet customers as they enter the store and provide assistance with product inquiries and selections.
- Offer knowledgeable advice and recommendations to customers based on their equestrian needs and preferences.
- Address customer concerns, answer questions, and provide exceptional service to create a positive shopping experience.
-Inventory Management:
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to the main store.
- Keep track of sales and popular items to aid in inventory planning for future events.
-Independence and Initiative:
- Work independently to manage store operations during events.
- Take initiative in addressing customer needs and solving problems as they arise.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in retail, preferably within the equestrian industry.
- Strong knowledge of equestrian tack, apparel, and accessories.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Establishes and maintains computer and paper files and records.
- Intermediate computer skills are required, regularly sending clear and concise emails to the main store.
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions on the spot.
- Ability to multitask and handle a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transactions.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy items.
- Flexibility to work during various events at the Virginia Horse Center, including weekends and some holidays.
